The stunning Syzygium Buxifolium is a native species to South Africa and is commonly called a Roseapple/Brush Cherry or Myrtle. They get their names from the small bright red fruits which have a cherry-like appearance.

Personally, I think this bonsai is highly under-rated. We love it. The proportions are sensational with naturally miniature leaves. I love the fact that it both flowers and fruits and the blooms are a very pretty soft ivory almost semi-double in form. Cherry like fruits are a cheerful pink. The bark is a warm red in tone. It is one of the easiest bonsai to grow and is fairly tough so can live outside also for much of the year – although we do recommend protecting from frosts.
