This beautiful Chinese Sweet Plum bonsai begins with a trunk base that is nothing short of sublime. Strong, powerful roots rise confidently from the soil and merge seamlessly into a wonderfully twisty trunk with superb taper. The movement feels natural and expressive, giving the tree real presence despite its compact size. Furthermore, the branching is evenly spaced, creating a clean framework that will thicken into lush foliage pads as spring and summer return.

Potted into a brand-new cream oval ceramic pot with a matching drip tray, the tree looks soft, warm and elegant. Trunk & Design

Foliage & Seasonal Interest

The Chinese Sweet Plum is evergreen, so it keeps its leaves throughout the year. Although photographed in winter, when foliage pads appear slightly lighter, the tree still displays fine, glossy leaves with a naturally small size. As the seasons progress, the canopy will thicken noticeably, producing richer greens and, occasionally, pretty plum-coloured fruits. New growth appears in warm lime-green or blush red tones, adding brightness and freshness.

Place your Sweet Plum in a bright position away from very hot windows in mid summer. Water when the soil begins to dry slightly.
