This Serissa shows a neat and relatively fine root flare, or nebari, that anchors the composition with natural strength. The trunk measures around 2.5cm in diameter and rises confidently before dividing into two primary branches. These branches look clean, refined and beautifully ramified. Moreover, the trunk features a subtle shari. In bonsai, a shari exposes a strip of deadwood along the trunk to evoke age, hardship and natural weathering. Place in bright light. Water when the soil begins to dry. Apply bonsai fertiliser weekly to support flowering and healthy growth. Applying Bonsai Mist twice a week is best practice – it foliar feeds, conditions the leaves and increases the humidity.
